Women's Health

Natural medicine is very successful at treating the many health concerns experienced by women.  Aimed primarily at resolving the signs and symptoms, whilst also getting to the true cause of your concerns; naturaopathy can be the solution to hormonal happiness.

Puberty, PMS, acne, problematic periods, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, fibroids, cysts, polycystic ovaries, abnormal hair growth, loss of libido, and not to mention menopause, are common concerns of Lisas patients.

Women can experience a range of hormone related problems during and after their reproductive years. Changing with age, as a result of imbalances in the delicate series of events that govern hormone balance, a woman’s hormones can be disrupted by a number of factors including stress, pregnancy, nutritional deficiencies, artificial hormones, thyroid function, hereditary factors and illness.

Lisa Bennett specialises in helping women to improve and manage their hormonal and general health through every stage in their life. These hormonal changes have an effect not only on her menstrual cycle, but her general health as well as changes in nutritional needs and her susceptibility to specific health issues.

Puberty

Adolescent girls have hormones activating & changing rapidly; and as such, have high nutritional requirements and may experience quite different symptoms compared to an older woman. Ensuring an adolescent’s nutritional needs are met and her hormonal balance optimised, significantly helps with problems she may be experiencing during this time of change – physically and emotionally.

For pubertal issues such as period irregularity, period pain, acne and other skin issues, weight or mood changes, young feamles respond very well to natural medicines.

Your 20’s, 30’s And 40’s…The Fertile Years

During these years a woman may need help with stabilising hormones, optimising fertility and preparing for pregnancy. Issues that a woman has struggled with for a long time may need attention, including period irregularities, PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, period pain, heavy periods, weight issues, changing diet and nutritional needs or emotional problems. It is also a time when women become more aware of genetic factors that could potentially affect her health in later life, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, bone density, cancer and obesity. Having a DNA profile to take a proactive and predictive approach to your health and/or addressing the lifestyle factors that contribute to these conditions is a step toward greater longevity and better quality of life now and in older age.

If any hormonal problems arise during these years, it is best to address them early before they become a bigger issue later on down the track and hormonal problems respond really well to natural medicine treatment such as herbs and nutritional therapy. Comprehensive hormonal testing (blood, saliva and or urine) can help to provide the information about what you need to do, using natural medicines, to get you back in balance. Please ask Lisa about this at your consultation.

Your 40’s and 50’s…The Peri-menopausal Years

Just as the puberty signals the start of a woman’s fertile life, the peri-menopausal stage signals the end and a new phase of changes for women. As this time of life usually ironically coincides with the busy years of raising a family and/or busy careers, it is not unusual for women to arrive at this stage of life depleted, exhausted and hormonally imbalanced! It is then no wonder that the peri-menopausal time can be a difficult hormonal transition for many women. The good news is that the menopausal symptoms of hot flushes, insomnia, fatigue, mood swings, low libido, fuzzy thinking and generalised lack of vitality can all be treated with natural medicine, to make this transition quicker and have less of an impact on a woman’s quality of life.

Experienced in testing and assessing where your hormonal and physical imbalances are at this stage of life, individual prescriptions of the most effective natural medicine options will allow you to get you back into balance and gently transition through this phase of life.

Your 60’s, 70’s And Beyond Menopause

After your “ovaries have closed for business” and your hormones have balanced after the menopause, hormonal problems can often be replaced by other issues. Many women may start to “feel their age” with the start of niggling problems that may worsen as they age if left untreated. Arthritis, memory/concentration concerns, low fitness + stamina, low energy, emotional issues, sleeping changes and weight increases are common areas of change among older women and can be supported with the help of an experienced natural medicine practitioner.
